So, I’m a single mom to a beautiful 5 year old little girl. I’ve been “divorced” (I use that term lightly, as I am not legally divorced…yet) for 4 years now. When I decided to move down this path, I moved back home with my mom and sister, who help me immensely with raising my little princess 🙂
Going from “married” to “single” in a short amount of time was a culture shock to me. I was with my ex husband from 2001 to 2009 (married in 2005), so I knew nothing of what it would be like to be a single lady again.
*Cue ‘Single Ladies’ in the background as I shake my boo-tay to the beat*
Seriously though, it’s been a huge adjustment process. I feel like I am still in the process of acclimating to the single parent lifestyle, trying to figure out how to balance all the “lives” I lead (Joanne the Mom, Joanne the Working Mom, and Single Joanne). Scary right? There are so many new things to consider…dating (WHAT?!?! Where’s the wine!?), co-parenting, Julianna’s overnights with her father (AKA breaks, or nights where I miss my girl so much I want to cry), and the dreaded splitting of the holidays.
Here are some more of my thoughts/concerns as a single mom. Check them out, I’d love to hear your thoughts! I’m planning on making this a monthly segment, what do you ladies think?
