The 2015 Toyota Avalon XLE Touring is a total upgrade from my very own Bruce. Bruce is my 98’ Toyota Avalon XLS. Bruce is named after Bruce Wayne – a total badass even at his age. For my older Avalon, I thought the name was just fitting. I gave Bruce a much needed break when I was driving the 2015 Avalon for a week back in August.

The Avalon is a larger sedan compared to its sibling the Camry and Corolla. With 21 mpg City and 31 highway. I had no problem at all when it came to gas efficiency driving around the streets of Chicago. I live about 12-15 miles away from downtown (Chicago). However if you do City driving 21 mpg is not that bad at all. I work three times a week, and drove the Avalon to and from work. On a normal work week, I have to sit in traffic for about 1.5 to 2 hours and the Avalon just made every single minute stuck in traffic very comfortable. XLE touring comes with a 10-way power adjustable driver seat, eight-way power adjustable front passenger seat, heated rear seats. Something very handy during the winter times or keeping your carry-out pizza! (Life Hack right there!)
Let’s talk specs:
The Avalon Limited Edition also offers a Technology package, which includes frontal collision warning, automatic high-beam headlight control, QI-Wireless Charging, pre-collision system and adaptive cruise control. One cool thing to know as I discovered are the heated mirrors.
For safety, the XLE Touring and Touring sport comes with blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts. Also a standard for a limited is Toyota’s Safety Connection service that includes roadside assistance, stolen vehicle location, and collision notification. XLE also includes standard Avalon features ( Traction and stability control, & Anti Lock Breaks). Front and Rear seat airbags, side curtain airbags, front knee airbags and a rear view camera. All these airbags for me gives me a sense of security especially transporting your love ones from a to b.
With an almond leather interior, this gives the XLE Touring a very classy and luxurious feel.
The from and passenger drive seat have meticulously designed lumber seats. The front driver features a 10-way power adjustable driver seat, and front passenger side gets an 8-way power adjustable seats. The touring also features 9 speaker audio system, a 7-inch touch screen display which features all your navigation, bluetooth access for your phone, satellite radio, and smartphone integration. Connecting the phone or pairing is very easy for almost all Toyota models that I test drove.
The comfort level of the Avalon makes it difficult for me as the driver to physically leave the car. Long drives are not a pain even for a sedan. I would purposely find a reason to drive around, or go run an errand just to be able to enjoy the comfort and luxury of this car. I can highly compare it to driving the Audi A4 but without the price tag.
As I have said in previous posts and videos. We are in the market for an upgrade for Bruce. Bruce might be reaching the end of his run. However, a newer Avalon is on our top 3 right now. The Avalon is as timeless as it has ever been, and is not your average long sedan. The length and leg room inside gives you that nice luxurious “Black-Car Limo” feel.
Thank you to Drive Shop for letting me drive the beautiful 2015 Toyota Avalon XLE TOURING. It’s going to be a really hard decision when it comes to car buying next year!
